Woodseats Festival

Good News For The Festival

Sainsbury’s Archer Road gets it in the bag and supports their local community

Sainsbury’s Archer Road has presented its local The Woodseats Festival with a Community Grant for £500.00.

This will help to support sponsorship and advertising of the Woodseats Festival..

The Sainsbury’s Community Grant scheme, helping charitable groups in the local community, is funded by sales of ‘Bags for Life’. Sainsbury’s recently announced plans to reduce the number of plastic single use bags they give away by 50% by April 2009. So for customers at Sainsbury’s Archer Road buying a ‘Bag for Life’, this means that they are not only doing great things for the environment, but are also making a contribution to their local community.

The store manager, Neville Proctor, said: ‘our store is at the heart of the local community and it is important that we can do as much as we can to support it. When we heard about The Woodseats Festival we were really pleased to be able to help out.’

To all those who were not choosen this year I want to send a big thank you for joining in. Below is how Lesley Webster feels about your writing
Dear Diana

Thank you so much for asking me to short list the entries in this year's Woodseats Festival Literary Competition. It has been a real pleasure to read the many submissions and I was very impressed by the high standard of writing, the skill, and the imagination displayed by entrants. It made choosing a very difficult matter. However, I had to choose five from each catagory and selected ones that surprised me or touched me or reminded me of my own past or were unusual in some way. Congratulations to the winners and well done to everyone who took part.

Well you know how I get children when I get a BEE in my bonnett I just have to get on with it. Of course The Festival has been fabulous for the last 4 years (this is number 5) but of course my thoughts turned to you children. When I tell my stories at Renishaw Hall sometimes they have a Punch and Judy Show. Everyone boys, girls, mums, dads, grannies and granddads all enjoy the show. So I thought why doesn't Woodseats Festival have one and we are.

My next thought was a cracker years ago I had attended an event that had a Pantomime Horse. It did a sand dance and was so funny. So first of all I had a chat with Rony Robinson on Radio Sheffield. The call went out but unfortunately no one answered. Then Paulette Edwards called me "Had any response" she asked "No" was my reply. "Let's try again" she said and this time a lovely young man called Jay called me took down the details and said he would check his diary and call me back. Unfortunately he lost his mobile and by the time he called me a few days later I had found my horse.
I had sent a plea to The Star and two girls Charley and Katie aged 14 years old asked their Granny to contact me. We all met at Molly Limpets of Woodseats who is supplying the costume free of charge and they were fab.
Next Thursday they are coming along to the Double 6 Youth Club to learn a few dance steps. Thanks girls you really showed community spirit".

Saturday 10th July 1-3pm they will be dancing along Woodseats so come along and say hello
